Financial Advice Referral Program   The USG Financial Advice Referral Program is a comprehensive program designed to assist the families of victims and those severely injured by the events of September 11th in the management and investment of the money they may receive from the Federal Government's September 11th Victim Compensation Fund or other sources. The program is an important part of USG's mission to address the long-term needs of those affected by the attacks. For many families, the compensation received will represent considerable sums of money. Managing this money can be extremely complex and there are many risks involved, including advances from unscrupulous people with moneymaking investment schemes. Financial education, planning and advice are the keys to making sound investment decisions and managing money wisely. Six firms are participating in the program: • American Express • JPMorgan Chase [Chase Investment Services Corp.] • Merrill Lynch • Morgan Stanley • Prudential Financial • Salomon Smith Barney Headquartered in New York, each of the participating firms was directly impacted by the attacks and is committed to helping those affected. As leading financial institutions, these firms were selected on the basis of their size, investment expertise and national presence. Within each firm, participating advisors are experienced financial professionals who all stepped forward to participate in the program and have been carefully selected by each of their institutions. While financial advisors will make recommendations for you to consider, participants in the program are always the final decision makers. Participating financial advisors have also undergone training specific to the emotional and financial issues being faced by those affected by the events of September 11th.
